J. Daryll Chester first started training police service and personal protection dog in 1986. After relocting to Los Angeles in 1989 Daryll met Hans van Rossum, a famous Royal Dutch Police Dog trainer and his PH1 met lof German Shepherd. A Police dept had brought Hans into the States to teach a police seminar and Hans like Daryll's training. Hans and Daryll started a working relationship that weekend which would span over 20 years. until Hans retirement. KNPV K9 has over 25 years experience importing and training Dutch Shepherds and malinois from the KNPV  for service contracts. The KNPV  (Royal Dutch Police Service Dog) is an organization which certifies police dogs and is run by the Netherland government.  The KNPV is the largest supplier of police service dogs worldwide. We have the contacts to acquire the cream of the litters, young dog starting the training and KNPV certified dog. 

 

Professionalism through constant development and refinement of practice-oriented training methods distinguish our work from the dog sports. Training methods and programs are created to match the need of our client and the individual dog selected for the client. 

The main goals of  KNPV K9 are: 

• To promote the use of certified dogs as service dogs for Police, special operations and personal security service.

• To create professionally train dogs to fit your SOP and the temperament of the handler. 

• To train people to become handlers, instructors, judges and helpers for exams, competitions and demonstrations.

• To promote the breeding of suitable dogs for professional service work.

 

While Studying under Daniel Paul & Jean Claude Balu, two famous French Ring Sport and service dog trainers from France, Daryll Chester's  passion for personalized service dog trained in multidiscipline form began. Selecting the best training applications, training techniques from the French, Belgian, Dutch and creating a unique program to school your individual service dog is what we do. (a similar approach taken by mixed martial artists)  KNPV K9's Holistic approach to hand raising and early developmental training the worlds best bred dogs to meet the specific handlers needs still remains unique in the service dog industry. Today, KNPV K9 is drawing on its 1/4 century experience and working relationships with the worlds top working dog breeds and trainers to provide elite services dogs. Our affiliations with international police k-9 organizations and our ability to select and train the right dog for the right person/handler is unique within the industry. This also gives KNPV k9 broader access to the highest quality service dog canidates, a better knowledge of the training, health records and perforance nutrition programs used prior to selection. This is critical when creating a cross training program to meet the needs of our cliets. One man, one dog rather than selling what ever dog is available is the future of those wanting the best service dog possible. Belgian working kennels and bloodlines who collectively produce over 85% of the worlds police service dogs. Our 

25 year working relationship with these breeding programs, trainers and working clubs give us access to dogs not 

available to other trainers. It also gives us a competitive edge in knowing what bloodlines produce a given temperament vs. another bloodline.
